About the Artist

Salt Lake City power trio that combines elements of roots, grunge, and psych rock with songs that reflect on the dark side of the American Dream. Artist Collective and musical group based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Tycoon Machete's musical focus is on the post-Millennial conflicts between people and the machinery that surrounds them. Roots instruments including banjo, steel guitar, drums, and musical saws are placed into an atmosphere of synthesizers and sampler. The roots instruments make up the "flesh" of the sound. The electronic elements make up the "machines." The songs created by this confluence portray the common themes of alienation, stress, deception, exploitation, and paranoia that make up today's world. Tycoon Machete's goal is to shine a light into the darkness and illuminate the dangerous humanity that attempts to hide there.

Personnel:
(Barefoot) John Whipple - banjo, synthesizer, lapsteel, sampler
Erin Stout - bass and singing saw
James Perry - drums and other electronic elements
