I make Native American flutes. The flutes are made in different sizes and keys. They are hand crafted from domestic and exotic woods. Each flute starts as a wooden block. The blocks are split in half and the air chambers routed. The flue and sound hole are cut into the flute and then the halves are glued back together. They are then turned on a lathe to the desired size and shape and then sanded. Next they are cut to length to a desired key. The flutes are a six hole design with the holes being drilled and sized to exacting specs to produce the desired pitch. Fine sanding and final detail work is done until the flute looks and plays perfectly. The flutes are then sealed with a safe lacquer. The finished product is a labor of love.
